October 2011 Two Promax Silvers
The launch of FOUR wins two Promax silvers in Sydney: “Channel Brand of the Year” and “Best Television Image Campaign”.
I am a director working with film, tv and the web. I see every job as an opportunity to develop and try something different. I work with anything I can get my hands on – live-action, stop-motion, pen and paper.
To me, it’s all about the story. Sometimes I tell my story, sometimes I help others tell theirs.

Four wins silver and bronze at the Best Design Awards.
Off the back of Sale St Shorts, New Zealand’s greatest film cable channel Rialto Channel, buys broadcasting rights for Matinée, Airhead and Let Go.
Matinée and Airhead screen as the two shortest shorts at Ant Timpson’s Sale St Shorts mini festival.
Arvid joins Mediaworks (TV3, C4 & FOUR) as Senior Creative and launches the new channel Four. Work include brand development, on-air imagery, station idents, content and brand promotion.
San Francisco based photographer Thayer Allyson Gowdy asked me to cut and post-produce a promo for the launch of Meg Mateo Ilasco’s book Crafting a Meaningful Home. Thayer found me through some films I’d made with Jenny Zrains for Toast in the UK.

The Victoria Picture Palace was build in 1912 and was the the first purpose build cinema in New Zealand and possibly the southern hemisphere. Today it is re-opening it’s doors to the public with a renovated interior and renovated cinemas.
As part of the opening, Let Go screened throughout the day at the 44 seat Benwell Cinema, fitted with a bright new screen and a new 2K digital projector. Taika Waititi’s classic “Two Cars one Night” screened as part of the program upstairs at the 120 seat Albert Cinema.

Maori Television’s “Explore Your Imagination” campaign wins gold and bronze at the Promax Bda Promotion & Marketing World Awards 2010. The campaign was awarded gold in the category “Children’s Program Campaign”, and bronze in “Children’s Program Spot – Live Action”.
Eradescape will screen at Badalona Film Festival which is held from the 5th to 13th of November 2010 in Barcelona, Spain. www.festivalfilmets.cat

Arvid teams up with Swedish director and old friend David Giese and shoots a music video for “Idong” by Maher & Sousou Cissoko. Check it out here!

Maori Television asks me to design their opening titles for their coverage of New Zealand’s Waitangi Day.
Director Kim Webby and producer Pietra Brettkelly contracts me to shoot and animate some re-enacted scenes for their documentary October 15th – Collateral Damage.
Director Pietra Brettkelly asks me to produce a two minute theatrical film trailer for her feature length documentary “The Art Star and the Sudanese Twins”. After being awarded “Best Editing World Documentary” at the Sundance Film Festival, the film has won numerous awards and secured world wide distribution.
Italian distribution “Vitagraph” starts distributing Eradescape on a worldwide basis.
Platonic screens in The Short Film Market at world famous Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival in France.
Arvid relocates to Auckland, New Zealand, to develop a feature film script and explore other opportunities down under.
In a distribution deal with an Italian Mobile Phone Network, Airhead and Matinee will be distributed as Pay-Per-View films.
Agencies Saatchi Saatchi and Masius contracts me and Flynn Productions to produce a viral commercial for Lycra.
Airhead and Matinee are selected by Bristol Int. Film Festival to be included in a Best-of-DepicT showcase. The films will be screened at Uppsala Int. Film Festival in Sweden.
Arvid starts new contract at Canal Plus in Stockholm, directing film trailers and channel identity
Arvid screens Platonic at the REX Cinema in Soho to a busy crowd of about 160 people.
Arvid wins a pitch to design and animate a 30″ commercial for Dirty Pretty Things. Produced by Flynn Productions, London. On air at MTV, VH1 and Bravo.
Vitagraph in Italy closes deal with Instrument Films to distribute Let Go, Matinee, and Airhead world-wide!
Flynn Productions in London starts representing Arvid as a director.
Arvid has just finished filming an 8 min short film, “Platonic”. The film will be ready for the international film festivals by end of March 2007. We’ll keep you posted on the private view!
SILVERTOWN is short listed for the Newham Film Office’s grant and will go through workshops throughout August. Production is set to start in September.
LET GO gets grant from Swedish Film Institute for blow up to two 35mm prints to be shown at Folkets Bio cinemas around Sweden. Premiere April 2006.
LET GO is selected for the ‘Best of Raindance East’ selection in Raindance’s new initiative with Tiscali.
